Yook Sung Jae Brought Paradise to Manila

Article By:  Marai Claudel and Trisha Inocencio

BTOB’s maknae and vocalist, and one of Goblin‘s talented actors, Yook Sung Jae, held his first solo fan meeting entitled Paradise in Manila last July 13, 2018 at the ABS-CBN Vertis Tent.

Here’s what happened during Yook Sung Jae’s first solo fan meeting in Manila…

Loving the Filipino Language and Cebuano Dialect. Fans were thrilled when their idol said, “Salamat po sa pagpunta niyo kahit ang lakas ng ulan sa labas.  Ako po si Sungjae.  Sama sama tayo palagi” and thanked the fans present.  When asked where he learned Tagalog, he said that he had been to the Philippines a few times and decided to learn some phrases for his Filipino fans, he even learned English when he went to Cebu. To prove that he still remembers some Cebuano phrases, he said “Magkita ta ugma” which means, see you tomorrow.  You could see that his trip to the island was very memorable for him as he continued sharing the story about his bangka ride and the food that he had while he was on it which was called “puso” (rice wrapped in banana leaves).

Sung Jae, The Promising Actor and Caring MaknaeHaving received an overwhelming amount of love and support from his drama, Goblin, this idol considers himself lucky enough for having various projects and working with great people. Although being in the biz is a lot of hard work, the thought of giving up never crossed his mind since and that he feels grateful for the love and support that he gets from his fans and most especially, from his BTOB hyungs.

Angelic Vocals. Yook Sung Jae opened the fan meeting with his single, “Tell Me”. He also sang his own rendition of the song that every Goblin fan knows by heart, Beautiful. Of course, his fan meeting wouldn’t be complete without singing his self-composed song, Paradise, which he sang before closing the show.

Master Sung Jae. One of the games played was inspired by his latest variety show, All the Butlers (available on Viu). Having learned from the “masters” he “served” for in the show, Sung Jae was given a chance to become the “master” and give precious advice to his lucky fans. A fan who flew all the way from Canada (who used up all her savings) just to see him live asked about how she could save money. Sung Jae then shared his father’s advice to him: “If you follow the money, it will not come to you. If you follow the dream, money will come to you”. The witty fan answered that Sungjae was her only dream and got a hug from him.

The Ultimate (Luckiest) Sungjae Fan. The winner of the True or False game (with a twist) never expected the prize that Sung Jae has for her. What is better than getting signed stuff from your idol? Having your idol’s voice recorded on your phone of course! Sung Jae recorded his voice saying “Good Night, Melanie”. If that happened to me, I would probably be sleeping soundly even if I suffer from insomnia. LOL.

Madam Kring. Every true Pinoy K-Pop fan knows that whenever Ms. Kring Elenzano-Kim hosts a fan meeting, they are in for a fun and memorable time with their idol. Madam has the power to keep the audience excited and make the artist feel comfortable and well taken care of.

BTOB Philippines. Before the program came to a close, BTOB Philippines gifted Yook Sung Jae with a customized cake and wooden wrist watch. Yook Sung Jae took this time to express his gratitude to his supporters for making that unforgettable event happen.

Hi-Touch and Photo-Op. Although the program already ended, all ticket holders were able to see the lovely Sung Jae up close since all ticket holders were able to “high touch” Sungjae, some lucky fans also able to have a group photo with him. Melodies definitely had a great time and bring home lots of memories, thanks to their favorite maknae, Yook Sung Jae.

The 2018 Yook Sung Jae Fan Meeting in Manila “PARADISE” was powered by Viu Philippines, Globe, and Ayala Malls. The event was presented by Puregold, Frontrow, Bonchon, Aivee Group, and GCash, in cooperation with Faith & D Entertainment, Cube Entertainment, and Humap Contents. Special thanks to FangirlAsia.
